Mary Cardenas

My name is Maria Cardenas, but I like to go by “Mary.” I have been an RN for over 21 years with extensive knowledge in mental health across all age groups. I have worked in corrections, the health department with immunizations, international travel, family planning, the TB program, and the Handicapped Children’s Program. I have also worked in hospice and nursing homes, both as staff and in administration. I worked for Health Solutions in the Acute Treatment Unit for mental health and detox, and for Sandstone Care, working with adolescents in inpatient mental health and substance abuse, including adults in the detox facility.

My passion for mental health and helping provide care to our underserved small communities led me to become a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I enjoy working with individuals in all stages of their mental health journey.
