That we offer at Springbok Health

Behavioral Health Services

At Springbok Health we believe that every patient has the right to be personally involved in their treatment. We do a lot of education to ensure that this goal is attained with each and every patient. We explain each disorder, and make sure that the patient understands why they are recommended to try a certain medication. We realize, and instill an understanding in our patients, that every medication that we prescribe matches the particular diagnosis we believe the patient to be struggling with. We believe at Springbok Health that better and more progressive outcomes are ensured by this practice.

This is a developmental and behavioral disorder. People who suffer from this disorder may be both adults and children. The symptoms include inattention, distractibility, hyperactivity, impulsivity, forgetfulness, and an inability to complete tasks.

We treat ADHD with medication, and life training. We look at each case independently, and may include a cocktail of medications to enable proper symptom relief.

Anxiety Disorders include General Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder with and without Agoraphobia, OCD, Social Anxiety, and PTSD. Phobias are also included under the umbrella of anxiety disorders. Panic and Anxiety disorders affect millions of Americans. Panic attacks are twice as common in women than in men. These disorders can be treated with medication and psychotherapy.

At Springbok Health we believe in the combination of medication and therapy to seek adequate relief in these disorders. We will utilize a combination of medications to attain the desired result. We will also take the time to listen to and get to know the patient. We do this, as we realize that each and every patient is different, and needs to be treated accordingly.

Some of the providers at Springbok Health have worked closely with the Behavioral Health Courts for many years. We enjoy this alliance, as we believe strongly in the philosophy of Victor Frankl, which states that “All behavior has meaning.” This allows us to pursue the reason for a person responding to an event in a particular manner. This also allows us to understand and treat Substance Abuse. Our providers have experience in making court appearances when this is necessary. We work with the attorneys that are representing our clients.

Previously known as Manic Depression, Bipolar Disorder causes swings in mood, energy, and the ability to function throughout the day. The Disorder is defined by alternating periods of depression and mania, or manic behavior, that can last from days to weeks to months. The mood swings are not triggered by interpersonal conflicts, as in some of the Personality Disorders. The episodes can last for days, to weeks, to months, and are accompanied by changes in sleep, energy, speech, and thinking.

At Springbok Health we treat Bipolar Disorder with a vast array of effective medications. We also utilize combinations of medications. We get to know and understand the particular case of Bipolar Disorder, so that we can proceed in a manner that will allow maximum relief of symptoms to the patient and the family. We have a highly effective system of getting the most recently approved medications approved by the insurance companies. This way, our patients are guaranteed the most modern and effective treatments known for their disorders.

Depression, also known as Major Depressive Disorder, is a mood disorder that makes one feel constant sadness, and a lack of interest in life. Tens of millions of people in America suffer from Major Depression. Most people will feel some sadness at times, and this is a normal reaction to life’s challenges. But, when intense sadness, which includes the symptoms of worthlessness, helplessness, and hopelessness last for an extensive period of time, then this needs to be treated.

At Springbok Health we treat all aspects of Depression, from adult, to child to Post Partum. We utilize all the medications at our disposal, and encourage the combination of medication and psychotherapy.

Due to the Covid Pandemic, the CDC, in August of 2020, released information that three times as many Americans were suffering from Depression compared to only nine months previous. This is a direct correlation to the Pandemic. The CDC claims that 40.9 % of the US population is suffering from Depression. This amounts to a staggering number of over 131 million people.

Some of the providers at Springbok Health have been treating this genre of patient for over ten years. Some of our patients at Springbok Health have been with the same provider for over ten years. It is this commitment to the patient, the caregiver, and the agency that makes Springbok Health unique.

In treating this type of patient, Springbok Health realizes that the care is not only about medication management. It is critical to know the particular case, and to adjust treatment when needed. This has been particular true during the Covid Pandemic. It is difficult enough for anyone to cope during this time, and particularly so for those who are cognitively compromised.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is characterized by recurrent, persistent, unwanted, and intrusive thoughts, urges, or images (obsessions), and or by repetitive behaviors, or mental acts that patients feel driven to do (compulsions) to try to lessen or prevent the anxiety that obsessions cause.

Some rituals may be physical, for example handwashing, or checking locks, while others may by mental, for example silently repeating numbers or counting, or statements uttered under one’s breath. Most people with this disorder have comorbid disorders that may include the Anxiety Disorders, A Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and PTSD.

We treat this disorder with multiple medications, and psychotherapy options. We refer to a wide range of psychotherapists and have the patient sign releases so that we can coordinate and collaborate care with the therapists.

People suffering from Personality Disorders have long-standing patterns of thinking and behavior that differ from what society considers normal or usual. These inflexible traits can cause great distress and can affect many areas of life, including both socially and at work. These people have a great difficulty in managing their lives and forming healthy relationships. These disorders may be concomitant with other mental health disorders, such at Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, and PTSD.

Personality Disorders types include: Antisocial, Avoidant, Borderline, Dependent, Histrionic, Narcissistic, Obsessive-Compulsive, and Paranoid.

We at Springbok Health do encourage psychotherapy to treat Personality Disorders. We also include a medication component to care, as symptoms that people are suffering from need to be adequately and accordingly addressed.

PTSD describes a range of emotional reactions caused by being faced with death or near-death circumstances. These include fires, floods, earthquakes, shootings, assault, automobile accidents, or war. These events threaten your own, or someone else’s physical well-being. The patient tends to re-live the traumatic event with fear or feelings of helplessness or horror. This re-living may be in thoughts, as well as nightmares. PTSD is in no way exclusive to people who serve in the military.

We at Springbok Health believe in the realm of resiliency in treating PTSD. We recognize that resiliency differs in each and every patient. What is highly traumatic to one, may be trivial to others. We do not judge any patient at Springbok Health, and address each and every PTSD symptom with care and empathy. This is done with medication, as well as with the appropriate psychotherapy. We encourage EMDR, and CBT to treat these symptoms and the disorder.

Schizoaffective Disorder is a condition that has aspects of both Schizophrenia and a mood disorder, either Major Depressive Disorder or Bipolar Disorder. The common element is psychosis, or psychotic behavior.

Some of our providers have patients in this class of disorder whom they have been treating for over ten years. It is possible for these patients to live functional lives, and to be happy and successful. Springbok Health takes the time to realize what each patient needs, and then follows that treatment plan. There are a number of excellent medications for these disorders, and Springbok Health is particular adept at utilizing these tools to sublimate patient care.

It has taken the disclosure of some of the most famous and successful athletes in the world to be open about their struggles, to enable this stigma to be alleviated.

At Springbok Health, we get to know the patient and understand their unique experience and needs. This helps to ascertain the correct treatment plan that is to be implemented. Athletes understand what it takes to be successful, and that it takes time and effort. This is how they are successful in their fields and events, and they see their treatment plan as something that follows suit in their overall preparation.

Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension. It can come from any event or thought that makes a person feel frustrated, angry, or nervous. Stress is your body’s reaction to a challenge or demand. Stress is very individualistic and differs among each and every patient.

We at Springbok Health recognize this and take it into account in treating stress. We help patients manage stress by helping the patient break the hold that stress has on their lives. This enables the patient to be happier, healthier, and more productive. The ultimate goal is a balanced life, with time for work, relationships, relaxation, and fun. We also strive to teach the patient the resiliency that is necessary to hold up under stress, and to meet the challenges that stress provides, head on.
